The Project
The Yarns Men, a community initiative based in Christchurch, New Zealand, is on a mission to create opportunities for men to experience life through good conversation, aspiring to build zero-suicide communities across the country. For World Suicide Prevention Day, we collaborated with them to raise awareness about the importance of being open to discussing this crucial topic.
The Scoop
We targeted a platform where stress often impacts mental health: LinkedIn. Our approach was simple yet effective—we created a unique LinkedIn badge with the hashtag #OpenToYarn, encouraging people to share their experiences and stories, fostering open and authentic conversations around mental health.
The #OpenToYarn badge quickly gained momentum, being adopted not only in New Zealand but also in countries like Puerto Rico, England, Australia, India, Mexico, The Netherlands and more!. This global reach inspired countless individuals to participate, share their experiences, and spread the message of mental health awareness.
By sharing their stories with the #OpenToYarn badge, people worldwide demonstrated that discussing mental health can be a powerful source of strength and connection. Together with The Yarns Men, we proved that when we’re #OpenToYarn, we’re never alone.
